Fairtrade awards for Camborne businesses

Four businesses in Camborne have been presented with SW Fairtrade Business Awards. Fresh food takeaway Delight2Bite in Cross Street and DVD rental and computer repair business One Vision, which has a shop in Trelowarren Street, have both received silver awards, whilst Chapel Street Boutique and Sands Boutique have both been awarded bronze.

With plenty of information to help visitors find their way around, Camborne’s new town guide is going down a storm.

Compiled by Camborne’s BID (Business Improvement District) team, the free publication provides details about car parking, toilets, WiFi locations, transport links, the heritage trail, key events and the businesses that offer free water refills.

A Local Art Gallery for Camborne!

The importance of the local arts has now been recognised in Camborne.  Dylan’s Gallery, the brainchild of Colin and Debbie Smith who own Dylan’s Bear Necessities, had its official opening on Friday 23rd March.

Following malicious damage, BID Camborne’s directors have reluctantly decided to remove the town’s Christmas tree from Commercial Square on Wednesday 20 December.

There was lots of excitement in Camborne on Saturday when a certain white-bearded gentleman visited Dylan’s Bear Necessities in Trelowarren Street. 

Sat in his grotto at the back of the shop, he greeted a queue of children and their parents with his trademark laugh and smile, before talking to them about Christmas, whether they’d been good and handing out presents.

It’s been a difficult week for the BID (Business Improvement District) Camborne team. The Christmas tree their working group had chosen as a centrepiece for this year’s festivities had been pilloried nationally and locally for not only being ‘shabby’ but a contender, according to The Sun, for ‘the worst Christmas tree in Britain’ title.
